UNESCO Biosphere Partner Island Escapes has generously donated £1,000 to Manx Wildlife Trust after guests booking cottages gave a voluntary £3 donation.
John Keggin, Managing Director of Island Escapes, said: 'As a socially responsible company and proud Biosphere partner, we chose Manx Wildlife Trust as our charity for 2019.
'Many of our visitors enjoy the nature reserves and the events held year round and we wanted to help support the good work of the trust.’
263 guest bookings opted in for the £3 donation, raising £789 for the year to date. Island Escapes rounded the sum up to £1000.
John added: 'As we head towards the 2020 season, we have decided to continue this partnership into next year. With new properties in our portfolio and visitor numbers on the rise, we are confident we can push the amount raised up further again during 2020.'
One of the main aims of Manx Wildlife Trust is to acquire and manage nature reserves and safe sites for wildlife, conserving some of the best habitats and species on the island.
Tim Graham, outgoing CEO of Manx Wildlife Trust, who received the donation, said: 'We are delighted that Island Escapes selected us as their chosen charity and have managed to raise so much money. It's heartening to see such a large number of people have opted to pay just a little extra in order to help protect Manx wildlife for the future. We are always keen to explore relationships with Isle of Man businesses, especially if it benefits both parties like this.'
